Vocations

  • Rancher

Ranchers are unique in that they can raise animals from infancy to maturity, as well as harvest their resources for player use. Ranchers must trade for the food they need for the animals. The fertilizer produced is used by Farmers for their crops. Ranchers also harvest wood from the trees that typically surround their fields

Professions: Animal Husbandry, Butcher, Forester

  • Builder

Builders are prized for their ability to customize player housing. They have the skills to work with both Wood and Stone. Builders are profficient in minng and smelting, but must trade for the wood with which to make furniture and various items.

Professions: Prospector, Stonemason, Woodworker

Professions/Trades

  • Brewery ( added to Cook)

Brewers are proficient at making ale and beer. Crafted ale can provide morale bonuses to liven a gathering, while creating a loss in agility and vision. Brewers must trade for the grains they need.

  • Animal Husbandry

Herders and breeders, these tradesmen are skilled at the raising of animals. These animals include horses (as mounts), cows, sheep, rabbits, chickens, pigs, and bees. Husbanders must trade for the food needed to keep them healthy.

  • Butcher

Butchers harvest meat and other products from the bodies of various animals. They can skillfully gather meat and milk from cows, wool from sheep, meat from rabbits and pigs, eggs and meat from chickens, and honey and wax from bees.

  • Stonemason

Stonemasons use hammer anc chisel to bring forth useful shapes from stone. They are skilled at creating building materials, monuments, statues, vaults, reliefs, and sharpening stones for weapons and tools.

  • Fishing Added in Book 13 as a Hobby

Fishermen use rod, line, and net to harvest fish from the waters of Middle Earth. This profession requires trading for the worms and other bait needed to increase the chances of a catch.

  • Gardener

This profession is highly praised among settlements, able to bring beauty and harmony to any place of dwelling with gardens, orchards, and hanging vines. Gardeners must trade for the seeds and fertilizer they need for planting.

  • Bookmaker

Bookmakers use paper and leather to create bound manuscripts ready for writing. They can also repair various types of manuscripts. This profession must trade for the wood pulp and leather they need.

  • Glasssmith

Glassmiths create glassware and windows used in everyday life. Added with their skills in pottery, this profession is prized for their ability to create all manner of housewares. Glassmiths must trade for the crystals and quarts they need.

  • Merchant

Merchants are the directors of trade. While some may have a vocation themselves, merchants have the know-how to turn any profession into a thriving business. Merchants have the unique ability to create shops and hire vendors or carts to sell their wares or the wares of others. These Traders are the only profession able to set up by Kinship Halls and Player Housing.

  • Painter (Scholars are able to create paintings)

Painters add a splash of color where native tones once lay. These talented craftsmen can touch up wood items, housewares, and stone. They can apply exterior or trimming, or fashion works of art in celing frescoes. Painters must trade for the pigments they need.

  • Chronicler (part of the Tavern Revelry and Chronicler/Scribe concepts)

    Chroniclers use quill and journal to collect news, skills, tales, and songs from the NPCs of Middle Earth. This profession creates items for use in Tavern Revelries or for Emotes and other non-combat activities. See Version 1.0 on the Official Forums.
