Inn Housing

Beginning Players

  • Inns, which utilize instancing in the game, provide a unique method for player housing, especially for starting players.
  • Once a player passes the initial tutorial instance, his sponsor can send him onto the next town with a map, some food, and a place to stay for a while. This can provide players a sense of property starting out, even though it is temporary. A Starter Room would not have Vault space. Each tavern would have a milestone.
    • Men would start with a room at the Combe and Wattle in Combe
    • Hobbits would start with a room at the Bird and Baby in Michael Delving
    • Dwarves would start with a guest room at the Tavern in Thorin's Halls
    • Elves would start with a room at Gilrain's guest lodge in Celondim

Renting Rooms at an Inn

  • Players have the option to rent rooms from an Inn, providing them with extra Vault space and an area to recover from Dread.
  • Rooms can come as Small, Medium, and Large instanced spaces, with corresponding sizes of Vault space located in a chest.
  • Vault space is accessed only from the room.
  • Vault size is determined by Room Size. Small Rooms have a 5x1 chest. Medium rooms have a 5x2 chest. Large rooms have a 5x3 chest.
  • Inns provide the same benefits as player housing in reducing accumulated Dread.
  • You can give permission for others to visit in your room by giving them a copy of the room key, purchasable from the Innkeeper.
  • Each tavern would have a milestone or similar device for saving your location.
  • Upon Defeat, you may choose to retreat to your room if the tavern is in range, but you will need to have Traveling Rations in your inventory to make the journey. 1 hour timer.
  • A Room has a check-in price and then a recuring cost for rent.
  • Prices for rent can vary from 50 copper a cycle (day or a week) to several silver coins per cycle. Like housing maintenance, you may purchase weeks of rent in advance. If rent is due, the room is locked, as is the chest. Players can retrieve their items by paying the rent again or check out of their room with a Closing fee. Renting a room elsewhere will automatically check you out of the previous location.
  • For an additional Fee, or if your reputation is high enough with the tavern, you can have the items in your chest transfered to your new Room. Otherwise your items are placed in escrow with the previous Tavern Keep.
  • Checking into an Inn also registers you with the Innkeeper who can send you repeatable tasks and errands, if you have a high enough reputation and have toggled that option.
